Statement:
The power of line, and its ability to move between drawing and painting, forms the foundation of my practice. The dynamic between the surveyor and the surveyed, and the possibilities of reinvention, shape its conceptual backbone. I use recurring figures and shifting compositions to explore how bodies interact with one another and how they are understood across time and context. My paintings move between intimacy and distance, allowing space for contradiction, humour, and transformation.
Working primarily with acrylic ink and charcoal, I layer, erase, and rework, allowing each image to evolve over time. Earlier gestures are often buried or revealed again, creating a living sense of erasure and rebuilding. My practice is driven by continual reinvention; each layer offers the chance to remake, to experiment, and to start anew again and again.
I am drawn to the ways bodies are looked at and how they respond to each other. Figures shift across works, refusing one fixed form or meaning.
Above all, my work is a meditation on the possibility of reinvention. Each painting, each drawing, is a way to reimagine, to rebuild, and to assert the capacity to start over, again and again. It is in this repeated act of renewal that my practice finds its purpose.
